On the outside Fubuki Snow is alone and her personality is less than friendly. She barely leaves her house and her only friend is considered family. But she has everything she needs. Hobbies, work and a family she loves dearly. She doesn’t need romance, adventure or shallow relationships. No matter how much her best friend pesters her about it.
Sakura Petal might be considered the opposite of her best friend. She’s outgoing, adventurous and spreads happiness wherever she goes. She has everything. Unless you ask her. Then she’s the reason her best friend is alone and she’s a horrible mother.
When Sakura’s son disappears, the girls must not only venture into the cave system to find him. They also have to face their own insecurities and past mistakes.

While Keep Me Breathing doesn’t contain anything that I would consider harmful to a teenager, so I wouldn’t see a problem with a younger audience reading it, it’s still aimed at a more mature audience.
Does the dog die?
There’s no introduced pet in this book but there is one wild animal that dies on page.
Are there any LGBTQ+ characters?
Yes. And the world is also Queernormative.

Apart from a group of bandits, I almost every character, even minor ones, are named. But yes.
